3G Solution Combines USB Modem from IPWireless & Wireless Router from NetComm to Deliver Fixed and Mobile Broadband for Homes and Small Offices

San Francisco, CA – October 18 2010 – IPWireless, a leading provider of 3GPP technology for new applications and markets, today announced that it has teamed with NetComm Limited (ASX:NTC), a leading developer and manufacturer of broadband technology, to offer customers a residential broadband solution that enables Internet sharing using a removable 3G USB stick modem and a residential router.

The USB stick modem is powered by IPWireless’ latest generation 3GPP System on Chip delivering high throughput capable of supporting multiple applications. It utilizes built-in features to prioritize data traffic according to application and traffic types to bring a high quality of service to consumers. The USB modem connects to the wide area network with the NetComm residential WiFi router in turn providing both wireless and wired local area connections for Internet sharing for multiple clients. Users are able to take the internet with them by unplugging the USB modem from the NetComm Wireless Router and connecting it directly into a PC or laptop for an always-on mobile experience wherever they are.

“Whether at home, in the office or on the move, consumers expect Internet access and providing a complete solution is a huge challenge for operators,” said David Stewart, Managing Director of NetComm. “NetComm’s Wireless router extends the reach of IPWireless’ high quality USB mobile broadband with the added benefits of home/office Internet sharing. We are extremely pleased to be working with IPWireless and expect the combined solution to be a very popular means of delivering always-on Internet access for consumers, regardless of their location.”

“The benefits of mobile broadband as a means of delivering always-on Internet access are clear,” said Bill Jones, CEO of IPWireless. “Our flexible residential solution not only allows operators to bring broadband to users without fixed line access – such as those in rural areas – but also enables Internet sharing in home and small office environments. We anticipate that this solution will be highly sought after as a way of providing Internet access in underserved areas.”
