Sierra Wireless and NetComm Limited today announced that NetComm has further strengthened its offerings in the 3G sector under an agreement to distribute the Sierra Wireless AirLink range of in-vehicle and M2M devices in Australia and New Zealand.
Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) and NetComm Limited today announced that NetComm has further strengthened its offerings in the 3G sector under an agreement to distribute the Sierra Wireless AirLink range of in-vehicle and M2M devices in Australia and New Zealand. This agreement expands the collaborative relationship between Sierra Wireless and NetComm, which has integrated Sierra Wireless embedded modules into NetComm wireless gateways for enterprise, SOHO, and consumer markets since 2007.
The AirLink product line is a set of intelligent rugged and industrial 3G devices for mobile data applications. They are widely used for mobile broadband applications in sectors such as police and emergency services, critical infrastructure monitoring and surveillance deployments, as well as in remote monitoring applications like energy management and automation.
Being able to provide for this very high-end and specialized market segment consolidates NetComms coverage of the 3G space, an objective strongly aligned with the firms strategy of focusing on the mobile broadband sector both in Australia and overseas.
"This agreement broadens NetComms offering in the 3G sector", says NetComms Managing Director David Stewart. "We now have products that cover the complete range of customer needs, from home users through to specialized industrial and remote management applications."
"Australia and New Zealand are natural markets for this technology," said Mr Stewart. "The quality of the AirLink range has been proven around the world and it is particularly well suited to essential services and emergency management applications."
"In addition to this, the distances we experience and the remote nature of many of our industries make 3G networks increasingly attractive for operators who cant access fixed line broadband connections or who need a degree of mobility in their work," Mr Stewart said.
Designed for deployment in demanding environments or un-manned facilities, the AirLink products all feature ACEware, the comprehensive suite of remote management software offered by Sierra Wireless. This permits all the AirLink 3G devices within a network to be remotely configured from a central command office control centre. In the case of needing to change settings or upgrade firmware, no maintenance visit is needed to the individual devices.
Sierra Wireless AirLink devices are powered by ALEOS embedded intelligence. ALEOS is a robust, reliable environment that simplifies installation, deployment and management of any wireless solution. It is compatible with numerous machine and GPS protocols and streamlines integration with a broad set of legacy equipment and third-party applications. ALEOS ensures a highly reliable persistent network connection and enables extensive remote management and diagnostics, all of which are vital in remote, unmanned and mobile operations where physical access is difficult and expensive.
Under the distribution agreement, NetComm is no now selling the three core product families of the AirLink range:
- The AirLink Raven line, which includes devices for fixed and portable applications.
- The AirLink PinPoint line, specifically designed for mobile GPS and in-vehicle deployment
- The AirLink MP line, an ultra-ruggedised series for mobile GPS and in-vehicle platforms and devised to operate in extremes of temperature, moisture and high-shock environments.
"We are extremely pleased to expand our collaboration with NetComm to include distribution of our AirLink product line," said Jin Pak, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales for Sierra Wireless. "Together, Sierra Wireless and NetComm can provide a comprehensive product offering and strong locally based support for customers in Australia and New Zealand who are looking to leverage mobile broadband for a wide range of applications."
The AirLink products are now available in Australia and New Zealand from NetComm Limited.
