Reflecting the companys strategy of building its 3G and Export markets, NetComm Limited has made two important additions to its senior business development team. Chris Coughlan has been appointed as General Manager 3G and Colin Hankins as VP for International Sales.
Both of these appointments will be instrumental in realizing NetComms plans to leverage its leadership in delivering 3G technologies both within Australia and in emerging overseas markets.
Colin Hankins: VP International Sales
NetComms export plans have been given added strength by the appointment of Colin Hankins as VP for International Sales. Colin has spent the last 15+ years in telecommunications sales and management roles and specializes in the wireless / mobile space. His work has included experience across the European and Asia-Pacific markets, holding several high profile roles with carriers and major hardware vendors. His most recent position was as Commercial Director for Research In Motion (BlackBerry), where he headed up a sales and marketing team across the Asia-Pacific region.
This extensive experience with both carriers and vendors means that Colin is exceptionally well qualified to understand their business drivers, particularly in the mobile data sector. With revenue from voice traffic declining globally, mobile data delivery is already experiencing massive growth, says Colin. Thanks to my long history in this business sector, I can quickly help NetComms clients find the best solution and enable them to maximize their opportunities for growth.
Chris Coughlan: General Manager 3G
With over 30 years experience in the telecommunications industry in a wide variety of roles, Chris Coughlan is a strong addition to NetComm as General Manager 3G. He will be accountable for the business performance of the full suite of NetComms 3G products, including work with Telstra, the Channels, Call Direct, Airlink and International sales.
Chris is very much focused on the market development aspect of the wireless sector, in particular the application of the technology to deliver real world solutions.
This is an exciting period for the development of 3G technologies globally, says Chris. The market is beginning to experience rapid growth and Im determined that NetComm will grow with it.
For the last few years Chris has been with Alcatel-Lucent, where he held the position of VP, Wireless Networks Australasia. He held an equivalent position at Lucent Technologies prior to their merger. After leaving Alcatel-Lucent he spent six months consulting with Unwired; assisting them with their business plans for a next generation wireless access network. This year he has provided services to: Access Economics, the NZ Commerce Commission and others on wireless technologies, business plans and spectrum issues.
With qualifications in both Engineering and Business, including an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Chris began his career in telecommunications in 1979 as a technician in Telstras TV, audio and transmission area. He stayed with the carrier for 18 years, moving from the technical area into management roles, ultimately holding the position of industry consultant for the media and entertainment segment.
