NetComm Limited has announced the release of its 3G15Wn combined ADSL and 3G modem-router. Offering two options for connecting you to the Internet, the 3G15Wn also supports automatic failover. This means that should you have both an ADSL and 3G connection available, the 3G15Wn will automatically revert to 3G should your ADSL connection become inaccessible.

Flexibility and sharing are the two highlights of the 3G15Wn. The option of using either an ADSL or 3G connection means that you can use the router at home or on the road with equal ease. Whatever way you choose to access the Internet, the wireless capabilities of the device then allow you to share your connection between multiple users.

Setting up a home or small office network with the 3G15Wn is simple. You can connect to your Internet service via your phone point and the devices ADSL port. If youre away from home or dont have access to an ADSL connection, you can plug in a 3G USB dongle to the router and use that to connect.

In both cases, users can then access the Internet by connecting to the routers wireless signal and / or through one of the four Ethernet ports at the rear of the device. In the case of the 3G dongle, this turns what is usually a single-user option into a shared connection.

The devices Wireless N format can provide up to six times the data speed and signal penetration of the older Wireless G standard, making the 3G15Wn an ideal choice for networking homes and small offices.

The USB port is the most versatile component of the 3G15Wn. It enables a number of set-ups that offer home and small business users a great deal of flexibility in how they use the device. Firstly, as mentioned, using a compatible 3G USB modem allows a 3G connection to be shared amongst multiple users.

Secondly, the USB port can be used to connect an external USB hard drive or other storage device such as a flash memory stick. This storage device will then be accessible to all users who are connected to the 3G15Wn. Whats more, users are able to access these files at the same time, from different computers. This is perfect for creating a network drive to allow sharing of documents or media in the same way that larger businesses do.
Thirdly, plugging in a printer to the USB turns this into a networked printer. All users can then share this resource, sending their jobs to the same printer. This saves the cost of having duplicate devices or needing to swap data between computers via email or flash drives.

The automatic failover function of the 3G15Wn prevents users from losing their connection to the Internet when their ADSL service fails. If a 3G dongle is in the USB port, the 3G15Wn will automatically connect to this service in the event the ADSL signal is lost. Especially for small businesses that rely on the Internet for their revenue, this is a vital function.

The 3G15Wn is available now and has an RRP of $299.00.
